Story from current Teaching Assistant:
“My name is Chunmiao Wang, and I am a junior at the University of Minnesota, majoring in Applied Economics. The initial reason I began volunteering at Tatanka was to gain some experience teaching in an elementary school. However, after I became more involved in the classrooms, I realized how much I wanted to contribute to the community. The teachers are very nice, patient, knowledgeable, and this reflects upon the students. The students are very loveable and have a strong desire to learn. It makes me happy to see their progression and passion for learning new things. The learning and social environment at Tatanka gives me a sense of belonging to the community, and I am happy to be here with the students as a “big sister.”
