Our Curriculum Kits focus on the important aspects of daily learning and emotional health of children under the age of six. Intentionally designed to complement standard early childhood curriculum, Baby’s Space Curriculum Kits provide an organized, creative, and fun way for teachers to engage groups of children, and build and sustain consistent and responsive relationships that are central to learning and well being. The monthly-themed Kits provide teachers with the lesson plans and daily activities in a ready-to-use format that enhance the daily experiences of children and adults alike. The Kits provide a creative and consistent approach to early childhood learning that will be evident throughout the classroom and throughout the center.
Our handy monthly teacher’s guide provides the methods, shopping lists, daily messages to parents, and helpful hints about how the ways children approach activities can make learning and engagement successful and enjoyable. Daily concepts and transitions are embedded into the routine using fun fingerplay, songs, and consistent methods to increase the predictability of schedule for the children. Helpful hints are offered throughout the manual, suggesting how children might experience the activities, and always reinforcing the ideas of the child’s point of view.
The kit is filled with the month’s activities and provides the resources teachers need to implement daily lesson plans with confidence, enthusiasm, and creativity. For example, the literacy component of the kit includes activities that encourage reading, writing, and talking. The kit includes:
Training for Curriculum Kits
We have discovered that teachers learn best and are most likely to fully implement the Kits when they have the opportunity to learn about the month’s activities in a workshop format. In our 90-minute monthly training sessions, teachers assemble the kits together and talk about each of the activities. This hands-on approach sparks the teachers’ interests in the activities, demonstrates the varied approaches of children to learning, and encourages teachers to think about scaffolding experiences for group and individual success. Teachers are inspired to think beyond the how-to of the activities and consider how to foster developmental progression and emotional support. This workshop inspires conversation, idea sharing, and joy, which in turn encourage teachers to fully engage in the implementation of the Kits.
